In this paper, we present to reducing cross-talk between two adjacent patch antennas operating at different frequencies using electric metamaterials (EMM). In response to incident electromagnetic (EM) waves, the EMM behaves strong resonance, resulting in a negative effective permittivity. Due to the negative permittivity, the electric field lines of one patch antenna are blocked from the other patch antenna operating at higher frequencies. Therefore, the interference onto the higher-frequency antenna can be reduced. To verify our design, a prototype was designed, fabricated and measured. The measured results demonstrate that isolation property is improved more than 5dB by utilizing the EMM even though the distance between the cross-talk antennas is just about 0.051 λ. The mechanism presents an alternative method of antenna isolation enhancement.
