A monitoring system was built for the landslide of the transmission tower in Maoxian, Sichuan Province, China. Two kinds of optical fiber sensors were used to measure surface displacements and deep displacements. Precipitation was measured by the automatic rain gauge. All these measured data were transferred back to control center by GPRS. There is a good positive correlation between the surface displacement and the precipitation and the deep displacement has a lag effect with the precipitation. The monitoring results indicated that the landslide was a shallow and slowly moving landslide which has caused the tower to be deformed.
