Two phase flows are observed in many industrial process applications. It is necessary to monitor and visualize the processes for safety and improving the throughput. Electrical resistance tomography (ERT) through conductivity profile reconstruction suffice the need. The image reconstruction using traditional gauss-Newton method is heavily reliant on initial guess and the spatial resolution is not satisfactory. Therefore in this study a global optimization algorithm called particle search cluster optimization (PSCO) is applied to ERT for two phase flow visualization. Numerical simulations are performed for two phase flow and the proposed PSCO method is compared against traditional methods.
