The scheduling efficiency of automatic guided vehicle (AGV) is of great significance for improving the logistics and transportation efficiency of smart hospitals. In this paper, a mathematical model of AGV scheduling for hospital transportation is established based on the objective of the time for multiple AGVs to cooperate with each other to transport all medical materials. An improved harmony search algorithm (IHSA) was proposed by discretizing the algorithm, optimizing the local search process and introducing chaos generation mechanism. The algorithm was applied to the optimal scheduling model of hospital transport AGV, and the performance of the algorithm was evaluated. The results show that the performance of the proposed IHSA is superior to the existing harmonic search algorithm.
