Simplifying the tread-road model, a finite element model of the tire tread lateral self-excited vibration using LuGre friction model is established in MSC.Marc. With the finite element model, the lateral self-excited vibration of tread is simulated and analysed. Spectral analysis of the vibration signal is carrid out as well. At last, the influence of vehicle speed on lateral self-excited vibration of tire tread is presented. The results prove that high frequency vibration exists in tire tread under certain conditions and the value of the vehicle speed has essential influence on the existence and the amplitude of the vibration.
