The load burstiness of a virtual machine (VM) or a virtual link (VL) in a Virtual Data Center (VDC) may affect other VDCs that share a common host and degrade the performance of these co-hosted VDCs. To tackle this, we propose embedding VDCs whose loads are negatively correlated, onto common physical servers and links. An Integer Linear Programming (ILP) model and a load-correlation-based heuristic algorithm are developed to simulate and study the effectiveness of this approach.
