Phasor measurements units (PMUs) are becoming an important component of the smart grids as they analyse the state of the grid in real time. The PMUs must accurately measure fundamental signal, while disturbances are present. To achieve this, different estimation algorithms have been used. Inhere we analysed six of them and assess their behaviour under static and dynamic conditions (0.2 → 2.0 a.u amplitude and 50 → 50.1 Hz frequency step-change). The interpolated DFT algorithm did not perform sufficiently well. Other algorithms are accurate under static conditions (TVE
