The article is concerned with the evaluation of the importance and effectiveness of live simulation tools used in military training of small assault units. The experiment was conducted during a military training on a sample of 190 subjects using means of live simulation. The sample tested comprised first year students of a master's degree study programme, i.e. persons without any previous military (combat) experience. Small units (the total of 38 teams) under training were compared by means of a multicriteria analysis using 8 criteria. The resulting utility functions showed the differences between individual teams, and proved the benefits of live simulation tools as the teams using the tools ranked among seven best teams with the score corresponding to the first and second place in the overall standing.
