In this paper 40 Gbps DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplex) have been investigated using 16 wavelength channels and an Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA), Raman optical amplifier (ROA) and Semiconductor Optical Amplifier (SOA). Each amplifier type was individually analyzed and the performance has been compared on the basis of transmission performance. The performance of DWDM system is evaluated by the the BER (Bit Error Rate) and Q-factor for individual wavelengths, allocated within the optical C-band (1530 nm - 1565 nm).
