Recently, Body Area Network (BAN) has been extensively studied. BAN is an essential technology for realizing healthcare IoT systems and is one of the wireless communication technologies that can seamlessly collect data detected by sensors. The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) has standardized SmartBAN that is suitable for healthcare IoT. SmartBAN was standardized with the aim of meeting four technical requirements, one of which is quick initial connection. In this paper, as an initial step of performance evaluation, we implemented a SmartBAN experimental system using an evaluation boards and experimentally evaluated the initial connection performance in terms of setup time.
