The frequency domain simulation of the scattering behavior of electrically large homogeneous dielectric objects, especially in the context of inverse scattering, is a challenging task well suited for the application of the method of physical optics. In this paper we propose the hybridization of the method of physical optics, the Born-approximation and ray tracing to effectively simulate large scale surface and volume scattering problems as well as provide details regarding the implementation.
