In present days sounding rockets are being used to launch payloads which contains weather monitoring sensors and associated circuitry. The data so collected is used for weather forecasting. But they are not reusable and expensive. This paper describes about the design of an electromagnetic launch pad which can be a suitable candidate for replacement of this conventional sounding rocket system. The proposed system has a major merit that, it is reusable. The system is designed on the basis of application of Lorentz force. The heart of the system is a capacitor bank with a large current output. The propelling force is created by instantaneous discharge of the capacitor bank through the parallel copper rails. According to Lorentz force, a huge force will develop on the projectile, which is situated between the rails. The detailed modeling and analysis is presented in this paper.
