Channel Estimation in underwater acoustic (UWA) communication is a big challenge, especially for multicarrier transmission. The conventional methods are not suitable to the severe frequency selective fading channel; also current channel estimation techniques used in the multicarrier underwater communication system do not use the sparsity nature of the underwater acoustic channel efficiently. To solve the UWA channel estimation problem, this paper proposes the time reversal compressive sensing (TRCS) channel estimation method used in the Filter Bank Multicarrier (FBMC) system. Converting the selective fading channel to be impulse like channel based on time reversal mirror is employed to improve the performance of compressive sensing (CS) channel estimation technique. In order to take the carrier frequency offset (CFO) effect, a pattern of a preamble symbol is designed. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme is more robust and performs better bit error performance in a measured underwater channel compared to the conventional methods..
