The article is devoted to the experimental results of wave transients’ study on the base of single-wire overhead and cable transmission lines physical models. The distinctive feature of the models is that delay lines are used in the circuit of pulse voltage generator for the purpose of the electromagnetic wave generation. On the base of the physical models, wave parameters of the lines, namely inductance per unit length, capacitance per unit length and surge impedance are determined by four ways: numerically, analytically, experimentally and by means of measurement. Electric and magnetic field patterns along the lines are shown using the special software for numerical analysis. The obtained results are compared taking the experimental results as the reference. The main purpose of the article is to show that not taking assumptions during the calculations into consideration leads to significant difference in results obtained by suggested methods. In prospect, the created single-wire models can be improved up to multi-wire ones for the purpose of wires mutual influence research and the wave patterns study in the issues of electromagnetic compatibility in digital power substations.
