In the context of increased renewable sources integration, a study regarding the application of the particle swarm optimization technique to obtain the proper operation of HVAC/HVDC networks is conducted in this paper. In this regard, the proposed model aims at minimizing the total power losses for a hybrid power grid entailing multiple offshore wind power plants, by controlling the converters' setpoints. Based on the proposed methodology, we managed to efficiently identify the optimal operation modes that ensure the lowest losses, under various scenarios for the generated power change in the offshore zones and the consumed power change in the onshore zones.
