Fuel economy is an important factor to evaluate vehicle performance as it is completely associated with fuel costs. To improve the economy under actual drive cycle of fuel cell hybrid electric vehicle (FCHEV) this paper evaluates a methodological approach to investigate the maximum fuel economy that could be achieved by an FCHEV for different known drive cycles. A fuel cell hybrid electric vehicle model (FCHEV) was tested under different drive cycles mainly FTP75, US06, HWFET driving cycle scenarios to determine the FCHEV energy consumption, hydrogen consumption, electricity consumption in battery and fuel cell for different driving cycles and analyzed the effect of these driving cycles on fuel economy evaluation.
