The overvoltage and off-grid of new energy in the weak sending end power grid has attracted extensive attention. This paper firstly expounds the generating mechanism of transient overvoltage in the sending end grid when DC commutation fails. Then the influence of the short-circuit capacity on the transient overvoltage is analyzed. On this basis, the PSD-SCCP simulation program is used to evaluate the short-circuit ratio for multiple renewable energy stations under various operation modes of the actual power grid, and a recommended value is given for the short-circuit ratio to meet the demand of new energy consumption and the smooth delivery of DC projects.
