Ammonia decomposition is an interesting reaction for clean H2 production. Ni-based catalysts were improved by doping of ZrO2 in Al2O3 support that can enhance the catalytic activity of catalyst for ammonia decomposition. The highest hydrogen production rate was obtained from Ni/ZrO2-Al2O3 catalyst at 873 K with 98% of NH3 conversion. The characteristics of supports were investigated using BET and TPD-NH3 techniques. The surface area of Ni on catalysts was also investigated using CO-pulse technique. These data clearly explain the high catalytic activities of Ni/ZrO2-Al2O3 catalyst.
