A meander-lined miniaturized implantable antenna within human muscle tissue layer operating at 2.45 GHz ISM (industrial, scientific and medical) band is designed in this manuscript. A human body equivalent phantom has been developed here to record the performance of the fabricated implantable antenna. The effect of variations in effective relative permittivity and conductivity of the human body on reflection coefficient (S 11 ), resonant frequency, realized gain and fractional bandwidth of implantable antenna are recorded here. It is observed that reflection coefficient and fractional bandwidth are affected by both these variations whereas resonant frequency is not affected by them. Realized gain is more sensitive to variation in permittivity than conductivity.
