The Japanese government has declared that Japan would realize carbon-neutrality by 2050. Japan's 2050 energy scenario has been released. This paper analyzes the installed capacity of renewable energy -photovoltaics and wind turbines- and battery energy storage systems required for the realization of the carbon neutral in 2050 referred to the 2050 energy scenario. In addition, we estimate the values for 2030 and 2040 as milestones. From these values, the total amount of power electronics equipment can be estimated. And as a result, the contribution of progressing power electronics technology for the realization of carbon neutral is evaluated quantitatively.
