In this paper, a dual-input nine-switch converter (NSC) is used as a front-end interface of two independent permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) based wind turbines. The proposed topology is suitable for grid-connected wind turbines especially in low power applications. This is because the IGBTs cost is the same in a limited average ratings of switches. A control strategy is also presented to achieve power factor correction (PFC) in both grid and source sides and maximum power point tracking (MPPT) operation for two different wind turbines. Simulation results are discussed to verify the validity of the proposed system.
