A new low distortion, highly stable class AB output stage intended for monolithic power amplifiers is described. High linearity is obtained through use of a new technique of class AB biasing combined with local feedback. Stability is improved by eliminating the customary quasi-PNP structure and the application of high-frequency feedforward. Measured THD is around -80 dB at 20 kHz.
