Flex-grid optical networks provide flexible-grid architecture and elastic assignment of spectral resources, unlike fixed-grid optical networks. The two prime objectives in this domain are to efficiently use spectral resources and to provide suitable protection against link failures which would cause a huge loss of data. In this study, we propose a heuristic approach to solve the traffic grooming problem integrated with survivability problem under dynamic traffic scenario. The traffic demands are multicast so they are routed through a light-tree. The proposed approach performs better than state-of-the-art approach concerning blocking probability and bandwidth blocking probability.
