Using an 8-element Yagi antenna array and a digital receiver, an RFI detector have been designed, implemented and installed in the Pierre Auger Observatory in Argentina. The RFI detector has been used for a survey of the interferences in the field at frequencies between 850 MHZ and 950 MHz. The study includes simulation of the antenna array radiation pattern, test of prototype receiver and measurement in the field. The results have been verified by localizing the major source of the RFI at the field with a few degree resolution. Also, a brief review of the RFI detection techniques for radio telescopes is presented and various applications of the designed detector and aspects of further development are discussed.
