The integration of IoT devices with GNSS technology has revolutionized location-based services and applications, offering diverse possibilities. However, GNSS multipath and signal interference problems commonly affect these devices, leading to compromised location dependability and accuracy. This study explores the problems with GNSS multipath and signal interference in IoT devices and offers viable fixes. The objectives of this study were: i) Conduct a comprehensive analysis of the causes and effects of GNSS multipath and signal interference in IoT devices. ii) Evaluate the current methodologies and approaches employed for mitigating GNSS multipath and signal interference. iii) Propose a novel multipath and interference mitigation technique which can enhance GNSS positioning and robustness of IoT devices. The study results discussed in this article promote IoT-enabled location-based services and give practitioners and researchers working in the field of GNSS and IoT integration invaluable insights.
