This paper presents a study on the performance of three different insulated rail bracket materials affected by an indirect lightning strike. The indirect lightning strike was remodelled by means of the Rusck model and the sum of two Heidler function. The simulations were carried out using the EMTP-RV which includes the comparison performance results between the Cast Epoxy, the Cycloaliphatic Epoxy A and the Glass Reinforced Plastic bracket materials with the station arresters when imposed by a 14 kA (0.4/12 µs), The results demonstrated that the Glass Reinforced Plastic material showed a better coordination with the station arresters.
