The preparation of actinide imido compounds has increased in recent years, with some of the landmark compounds being published within the past 10 years. While their preparation has been reviewed, there is nothing that chronicles the reactivity of these complexes. Thus, chapter reviews the reactivity of these mid- and high-valent actinide imido compounds. As there are distinct differences between imido and nitrido complexes, this chapter will only focus on the former. The aim is to summarize and present typical reaction pathways for actinide-nitrogen multiple bonds, and to compare and contrast reactivities across multiple oxidation states. Important topics include: (i) redox reactions; (ii) multiple bond metathesis; (iii) 1,2-addition chemistry; (iv) group transfer reactions; (v) hydrogen atom abstraction; (vi) ligand substitution; (vii) applications toward catalysis. This chapter also looks into the future of actinide-imido chemistry, including transuranium elements and insights toward lanthanide imido compounds.
