Pygmy marmosets (Callithrix pygmaea) will be shown stimuli representing the eye area of conspecifics, with either a) closed eyes; b) open eyes with bright sclera; c) open eyes with dark sclera. We expect the least instances of gaze aversion, agonistic displays, piloerection, scratches, vocalizations, and retreat from the stimuli when these have closed eyes. We expect the stimuli representing bright sclera to elicit the above behaviors more frequently and intensely. We expect stimuli with dark sclera to elicit the greatest intensity and frequency of the above behaviors.
