The main important design considerations for the magnet assembly in traveling wave tube (TWT) stacks are: permeance coefficient, pole piece saturation, positions of the input and output coupler magnets and thermal stability of the magnet grades used in the stacks. Careful considerations of the constraints and tradeoffs in the early design stage would maximize the chance of success in the development of new TWT magnet stacks.
