In the development of industrial trucks, the dynamic simulation based on the multi body system plays an increasing role. The tires here are essential elements, because they significantly influence the performance, safety and comfort of the vehicle by the transmission of forces and moments between the vehicle and the ground. For this reason, a new simulation model for super-elastic tires (SE-tires) is developed in this research work. After building a geometric model of a SE-tire, it is displayed in Adams/View MBS software with the basic elements, which are available in Adams/View. To describe the deformation of the highly elastic inner layer, the spring-damper element is used. A boundary condition is applied to the model such that it can only move in one plane. The lateral forces are not considered in this model. In order to integrate the SE-tire model into a complete vehicle simulation, the equation of motion of the SE-tire model is stored in a DLL File. In the DLL File, various routines, that solves the equation of motion of the SE-tire model taking into account the input parameters from vehicle simulation such as rim position, and returns the calculated tire forces and moments to the vehicle simulation, are available. In order to perform the simulation in ADAMS/View, the force-displacement diagram, the dynamic stiffness and damping diagram for individual spring damper elements are determined from experimental results. These diagrams depend on the number of contact elements and the wheel load as well as on the vehicle speed, and they are integrated in the SE-tire model as a function. Based on the results of this study, it can be stated that the developed SE-tire model can be used in the vehicle simulation of a fork lift truck, and accurately describe the characteristics of a real SE tire.
