The adsorption of CO on a 1 ML FeCu(110) bimetallic surface has been studied using HREELS and ARUPS. Two different adsorption states have been distinguished. The one with low stretching frequency is identified as an inclined adsorption state, and the other is the on-top site whose stretching frequency is higher than that on pure Fe and even a little higher than that on a pure Cu single-crystal surface. The reason for this is discussed.
