Chromobacterium violaceum, a bacterium that can cause potentially fatal infection, is found in the soil and water of tropical and subtropical areas. We report a case of a 5-year-old boy who developed C violaceumhepatic abscesses after cutaneous introduction of the bacteria. The patient was successfully treated with ciprofloxacin and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole.
