Scotland currently has four national health demonstration projects in the priority areas of child health, sexual health of young people, coronary heart disease and cancer. With the exception of the cancer project, each has a designated national learning network (and related network coordinator) designed to capture project learning, to blend this with the wider relevant evidence base and to disseminate it nationally to inform future policy and practice. This article describes the experiences of the three learning network coordinators. It attempts to tease out some of the challenges faced in coordinating a national learning network and offers some reflections on the process in the hope that future networks can learn from these experiences.
