The article discusses the Breaking the Cycle (BTC) intervention program of the Mothercraft, a non-government organization for children in Canada, for substance abuse mothers and their outcomes. BTC was founded in 1995 with the purpose of encouraging pregnant women who are involved in substance abuse to seek treatment and protect their children. It employs women workers to ensure mothers are comfortable expressing their concerns. It also limits the access of pregnant women to illegal substances and conduct evaluations to ensure its effectiveness.
