To understand how microvillar protocadherin CDHR2 contributes to intestinal brush border assembly and function in vivo, we generated and characterized CDHR2 KO mice. Our findings indicate that CDHR2 normally serves to elongate microvilli and maximize their numbers on the apical surface, which together optimize the functional capacity of enterocytes.
