The article discusses a comparative analysis subaltern communities in India and the U.S. covering African Americans, Dalits, and tribals. An excerpt from the autobiography of Morehouse College president William A. Darity, Jr. entitled "Born to Rebel" in which he described a trip that he took to India in 1937 is presented. It also presents an overview of an extended history of comparison of the position of the Dalits and tribal populations.
