The article features German designer Julia Lohmann. She is known for her art works which include a dead calf filled with 60 litres of plaster to turn it into a stool, her experiments with fresh seaweeds used in making sushi, and lampshade creations made of preserved livestock stomachs. She learned the rudiments of preserving animals through a taxidermist while she was a student. In 2009, Lohmann was selected as one of seven contemporary artists by the Jerwood Foundation who will exhibit her art at the Jerwood Space at Southwark in London, England.
