The article presents a study assessing the effect of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) as compared with safflower oil on endothelial function and markers of cardiovascular risk in overweight and obese men. It is noted that heated safflower oil and olive oil were given for additional descriptive control. Eighty-five overweight men, aged 45-68 years, were recruited for the study. The study concludes that CLA did not impair endothelial function as seen in the results that suggests that CLA does not increase cardiovascular risk.
