The article provides information on diabetic nephropathy which is considered the most common cause of end-stage renal disease and associated with higher cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. The features of the disease include hyperfiltration which is characterized by renal enlargement and high glomerular filtration rate, microalbuminuria, and overt nephropathy. People who are likely to develop the disease are those with type 1 or type 2 diabetes.
