Acoustical fields generated by an acoustical dipole sources in noncircular pipes filled with fluids are calculated by using of a 2.5 D method. The calculation is firstly carried out in the frequency wavenumber domain using PDE mode in the software system of Comsol Multiphysics. The results are then transformed into the time space domain. The numerical results show that the noncircular pipe may provide useful information for testing and calibrating acoustic dipole logging tools. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
