Developments in the media, political and electoral systems in New Zealand over the past decade have led to an increase in campaign effects. The paper identifies campaign effects stemming from different types of news and information available during the campaign. Media content is linked with survey data on specific forms of media consumption by citizens during the campaign and after the elections.
