Drug delivery agent based on magnetite/hydroxyapatite/chitosan nanocomposite (nMHAC) has been successfully manufactured using natural materials. The synthesis of nMHAC was carried out using the coprecipitation method, consisting of three stages, namely magnetite synthesis, hydroxyapatite solution preparation, and nMHAC synthesis. The obtained diffraction pattern indicates the formulation of nMHAC forming the magnetite and HA phase; each has cubic and hexagonal crystal structures, which are nanostructured. The FTIR spectrum also shows the presence of absorbance bands from the Fe-O group, hydroxyl, phosphates, and amides, which are the characteristic of nMHAC. The obtained nMHAC particles are in the spherical shape distributed in the nanometric scale, with an average size of 27.8 nm. The doxorubicin loading efficiency of the nMHAC is 83.9%, positioning nMHAC as a candidate in drug delivery application. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
