This article presents an excerpt from the book "Fear and Loathing in America." Douglas Brinkley was the editor of "Fear and Loathing in America" by Hunter S. Thompson. Brinkley describes Thompson as "a true pack rat and hell bent on meticulously documenting every day of his life." In 1968 the Democratic Convention in Chicago where Thompson was first harassed by police, he writes about this wild flashback. This is the first time he presents us with his alter ego Raoul Duke.
