Dye sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) for almost two decades ago were proposed as low cost alternatives to the conventional amorphous silicon solar cells, owing to the simplicity of their fabrication procedures, practically under ambient conditions with mild chemical processes. At the present work, we will show some recent developments to the fabrication of dye-sensitized solar cells in large scale based on TiO2 while issues that limited their performance will also be presented. Outdoor data measurements are included to verify our conclusions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
