A web-based survey was conducted to determine the prevalence of different treatment modalities for type 1 diabetes in Italian children and adolescents. The survey included data from 14,961 patients from pediatric diabetes centers across Italy. The results showed that nearly all children in Italy use a sensor for glucose monitoring, with about half using an insulin pump. However, a significant proportion of patients still use multiple daily injections, raising questions about the reasons behind this choice. Geographic differences were also observed, suggesting potential access inequality or treatment preferences among practitioners. The study highlights the need to understand the reasons behind these treatment choices to ensure all patients have access to the best therapeutic options. [Extracted from the article]
