Point of care lung ultrasound (POC-LUS) has played important roles in diagnosing neonatal lung diseases and assisting in their treatment. A newborn infant with severe respiratory distress diagnosed as pulmonary atelectasis caused by congenital massive pleural effusion, whose consolidated lung recruitment after pleural puncture drainage under POC-LUS guidance. Lung ultrasound can be performed easily and timely at bed-side with free of radiation exposure, thus it should be used extensively in the neonatal department. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
