The article discusses several issues related to the periodical "The New Yorker" and its role in the efforts by the U.S. government to stop terrorism. An article in the said publication by Susan Sontag was criticized by other journalists for allegedly unleashing a torrent of right-wing abuse. The author believes that the periodical contributed to President George W. Bush's war on terror, by depicting it as a natural and inevitable response to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York and the Pentagon in Virginia.
