The article presents a study which shows that CpgA protein is phosphorylated on serine and threonine while another GTPase is also phosphorylated by the kinase on the conserve T384 residue. The study also identifies a 10.3 kilodaltons polypedtide, YezB, and the component of stressosome, which serves as substrate for both enzymes in vivo and in vitro. The study suggests that the PrpC, PrkC,/CpgA system constitutes a relevant element of a regulatory network involved in the coordination of cell wall expansion and Bacillus subtilis growth.
