Presents a retrospective study based on a previous investigation which indicated that hepatosplenomegaly was associated with Th1-type antischistosome cytokine responses. Assay of plasma from the original study for anti-Plasmodium falciparum and Anti-Schistosoma mansoni antibodies; Exposure to Plasmodium as cofactor for hepatosplenomegaly.
