This article discusses a study which found that systemic NO production during septic shock depends on parenchymal cells. The researchers also investigated the involvement of hematopoietic cells in NO production. The insignificance of immune cells in NO production during shock was then explored by the researchers. In addition, the study determined the inducible NOS mRNA and protein levels in various organs via real time-quantitative polymerase chain reaction and WB analysis.
